Red Carpet Glamour

Red Carpet Glamour

Red carpet season is fully underway. And there’s no denying that the stars gracing the red carpet have that elegant and flawless picture perfect make up. But with salaries in the millions they can afford an entourage of makeup artists, hair stylists and personal stylists to get that smoking hot look.

Recreating the quintessential red carpet look is possible not only for the super rich A-listers, but for EVERYONE! Thanks to these top tips from Jackie Tyson, makeup artist to the stars. Jackie has worked with everyone from Sharon Osbourne to Lilly Allan and was the chief makeup artist for the X-Factor…so follow her lead to creating Red Carpet Glamour.

Smooth Canvas – the first step to this look is flawless looking skin. To achieve this Jackie suggests that you should…
“Give yourself a head start by getting your skin into the best possible condition the night before. Use Solutions Completely Clean Refining Cleansing Scrub to exfoliate.

“Once clean and moisturised, apply foundation all over the face, blending down onto the neck. For hero style staying power, dust a light layer of loose powder over the top to set the foundation. I recommend PerfectWear Foundation, set with Personal Match Loose Powder. Create perfect bone structure by applying a neutral blush under the cheek bone, blending in an upward motion. Try True Colour Blush in Classic Neutral.”

All In The EyesFor full on red carpet effect, think smokey, think smoldering, think sexy…

Dramatic eyeshadows are in and are great for a smouldering, glamorous party look. Firstly, use kohl eyeliner such as, Wrapped in Cashmere Eyeshadow Pencil in black around the eye, drawing close to the lash line.

Use True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Smokey Eyes, blending the darkest shade on the outside corner of the eye, with a small brush. From the corner brush out and up! Apply a mid-tone to the crease of the eyelid to define your socket line. Using a flash of the pale light reflecting shade in the inner corners of the eye will widen them.

For the intense, trendy look apply the Glimmersticks Eyeliner to the inside rim of the eye. Re-coat your lashes with mascara. SuperShock Intense Mascara will add instant volume and length. As do celebrities, ensure eyebrows are groomed and well shaped to finish off this look.”

Get The Glow – skin looks healthy when it shimmers, for an instant sun kissed look…

“Use a big soft brush to lightly dust bronzing powder over your cheeks. For a pretty glow use, Arabian Glow Bronzing Pearls.”

All About the Pout – last but by no means least it’s all about the lips…there are only two way to wear lipstick for this red carpet look, and that’s either subtle does it or maximum impact.

“Apply a lip liner all over the lip’s surface to make your lipstick lasts! Using a lip brush, add some subtle colour with Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in a range of colours from Golden Rose to 24K Gold. Last but not least, use Glazewear Extreme Shine Lip Gloss in clear to give you that sexy sparkle.”

Follow these looks and you’ll be Red Carpet Ready for your special night out!

There’s something about sun kissed golden glowing skin that always has us finding new and improved ways of achieving that all over glow. But be warned! There are tanning products out there that can pose serious risks to your health, and none more so than a drug called Melatan. Melatan, dubbed the ‘tan jab’ or ‘the Barbie drug’ is illegal to sell in the UK and is banned in many other countries. The drug is a synthetic hormone, which is injected into the skin to increase the production of Melanin. Melanin is the pigment in the skin which gives colour to skin.

Google for Films

For movie fans out there, there’s some exciting news!
A new search engine for movies has just gone live. The UK’s free and comprehensive movie search engine, FindAnyFilm.com, is designed to tell you where, when and how you can watch the movie of your choice. Whether it’s new releases in cinemas/DVD, or the TV screening schedules, FindAnyFilm searches for all the viewing options.  Why don’t we walk through a search?

Say you want to go catch a movie on the weekend and want to know what’s available in the cinemas; you can do a “Cinemas” search on FindAnyFilm by entering your postcode. The result will show a movies timetable for the next 7 days showing in all cinemas within the 20-mile radius.

Or suppose you want to watch a particular movie; The Dark Knight. Simply type in the film title in the search bar, and voila, it will bring out the film trailer, details, and all available viewing options in the UK.

  1. In the Cinema – further your search by entering your postcode to find a viewing timetable for cinemas within a 20-mile radius.
  2. On TV – List national, regional, cable and satellite TV listings in the UK. It shows listings up to 14 days in advance
  3. On DVD – Search results for DVD retailers in the UK; along with its price and availability. It searches through major retailers including Amazon, HMV, Tesco, ASDA, and more. By selecting the retailer of your choice, it links you directly to the online stores.
  4. On Blu-ray – Same as DVD option, it lists out all the available UK retailers offering Blu-ray titles and lists its prices and availability.
  5. To Download – Search for legal, high-quality, and virus-free film downloads. Options are available for both PC and Mac users, where it directly links you to the iTunes store.
  6. To Watch Online – With this option, you don’t have to download the movie to your hard disk. It’s similar to watching TV on demand; you can watch the movie via video streaming online. The search leads you to services such as Sky Player where it offers on-demand online viewing.
  7. In Other Formats - Depending on the availability, some films might offer video files for hand-held devices such as, iPod, Nintendo DS or PSP.

When I first heard of the “movie search engine”, I thought it would be just a database of advertisers with biased film information. But this isn’t the case with FindAnyFilm. Sponsored by the UK Film Council, it offers trust-worthy information on films across a variety of formats.

I’m impressed! But don’t take my word for it, search for it at FindAnyFilm.com

Latisse Eyelash Enhancers | Dangers Of New Beauty Product

New Year…new cosmetics. 2009 will see the introduction of a new beauty product designed to give you noticeably fuller, thicker and much longer eyelashes. But will leave some with devastating side affects. Produced by Allergan, the same company that produces the cosmetic filler Botox, it comes as no surprise that this wonder drug has been bubbed “Botox for Eyelashes” by Marie Claire.

Eyelash Enhancers

Eyelash Enhancers

This new wonder treatment called Latisse, was originally used to treat the condition Glaucoma, but is now being prescribed to US customers as a beauty treatment and can be anticipated to hit UK beauty outlets very shortly. With revenue estimations in excess of 300million per year, demand for this wonder beauty product is anticipated to rocket sky high.

But beware! Clinical trials of the drug showed some worrying and disturbing results. Users have reported using the product left them with the following side effects:

• Darkening of the skin pigment around the eyes
• Red eyes
• Itchy eyes
• Inflammation of skin
• Permanent change in eye color (it gets darker)

But that’s not all. According to Allergan, any body part which is exposed to Latisse on a regular basis may show signs of hair growth. (Cousin IT from the Adams Family) Very worrying indeed!

With so many great cosmetics widely available today, surely fuller and thicker eyelashes are easy to achieve without putting your body at harm.

Mascara– adds instant volume, lift and curl, with many brush designs and colour choices, to get the look you desire. Supershock Intense Mascara pumps up the lashes to the tee.

False Lashes – add discreet individual lashes for a soft look or go for full on impact with a fuller set. Keep it low key or OTT, falsie’s may take a while to master but always deliver the look your going for.

Using mascara, false lashes and eyeliner is a safe, dependable and a sure fire ways to enhance your lashes.

Although this product may have beneficial results for those with genuine medical conditions affected by hair loss (chemotherapy patients and those with alopecia), is it actually really worth it all in the name of beauty? Or is this another example of cosmetic beauty gone astray?
