What are the best calendar dates to buy new underwear?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:42 pm

When it comes to buying underwear, such as a new bra and knickers set, the most popular times of year are naturally Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Many women purchase new underwear for Valentine’s Day and equally many men choose that time of year to make their one and only foray into the lingerie department – often with mixed results. When faced with a vast selection of different sized bras, it’s amusing to watch men as they try to work out the correct size to buy based on the shape of their hands.

Yet besides those two special occasions during the year, there are also some other popular dates to mark down as great times to buy new lingerie.

For example, just after Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year in many stores. The traditional January Sales have, over the years, come forward from January 1st to their new home of Boxing Day for many retailers, meaning that designer underwear such as bras and knickers can be bought for huge discounts.

The same can be said of online lingerie stores, only they tend to feature their sales much earlier. Many websites feature sales as soon as the last order date for delivery before Christmas has passed, sometimes on Christmas Eve or earlier.

Summer is another popular time to be buying new underwear, as you make that transition from the heavier winter clothing to the lighter, skimpier summer wear. A new summer wardrobe is never complete without new lingerie to accompany it.

Why is Eco Fashion so hot?

Filed under: ethical fashion — admin @ 3:07 pm

Looking good is important for most of us, but looking good shouldn’t come with a price for the earth. All too often fashion labels and retailers sell clothing from designers who don’t consider the impact of their products on the environment. In addition to the impact on the planet, the use of cheap labour is rife within the fashion world, as many news stories, magazine articles and TV programs have highlighted.

It’s therefore important for the eco conscious person to ensure that they purchase only ethical fashion that has been designed and manufactured with its impact on the environment in mind. Eco fashion is very important right now, with some of the most beautiful and powerful women in the world getting behind the notion of organic fashion.

Safeguarding the future of the earth doesn’t end with carbon emissions from vehicles and the policies of major countries, it also involves the buying choices you make when choosing your clothing for the next season. You should choose eco fashion that has been produced with as little impact on the environment as possible. You should also make sure that your fashion items have been produced using fairtrade workers. Fair trade fashion is important so that you know the people who actually produced the fashion item have been paid fairly for their labour.

With organic fashion, you’ll not only look good on the outside, you’ll feel good on the inside because you know you’ve helped in some small way to protect the environment.

Saturday Night Fever!

Girl power! That’s one topic that was hot in the 1970’s and politics…and because of this, women were entitled to a lot more rights then they had been previously, which of course is great! And naturally, no one can forget that this was the era of disco and ‘Saturday night Fever’! You can pick up a lot of great gift ideas…either for someone who’s into their retro, or maybe for the parents, to remind them of their childhood and the ‘good times’ their always going on about!

One of the coolest and still most challenging toys from the time has got to be the Rubik’s Cube! I still can’t manage to work that thing out but I so badly want to! Maybe a good idea as an xmas pressy for someone who likes a challenge?

Ahh…some of the music that came out in the 70’s was just classic! YMCA…need i say more?! However, this was also the decade of some amazing artists like Blondie, Led Zeppelin and Elton John who we still rock out to today. Pretty much any compilation from the 1970’s will include these and a whole bunch more.

Fashion in the 70’s was all about the disco look! Anything (or better yet, everything) neon was totally acceptable. Girlies…time to dig out your hot pants! Hot pants were essential clubbing wear for all young girls back then…but I’m not sure how many of us are brave enough to work the look nowadays? Hmm! Platforms were another ‘must have’ of the time…for both men and women! The motto here was, the higher the better! Comfort and height all in one…What more could you want from shoes? I think its time to bring the platforms back again, don’t you?!

Groooovy gifts!

I don’t know about you but the first thing that pops into my head when anyone says 1960’s is flower power, baby! This was the era when it was all about peace & love. Everything just exuded ‘groovyness’ right from the fashion to cars and music.

Kids in the 60’s also had it pretty good…this was when all time favourite boy toy, Hotwheels was created. With their funky tracks which allow cars to perform jumps and loops, this is bound to be a successful present! Another favourite both now, and back in the 1960’s has got to be Lego. The sky really is the limit when it comes to Lego and what you can create with it. Both of these continue to be great toys with a huge variety to pick from that kids are bound to adore, no matter what age!

Music in the 60’s was so versatile; there really was something for everyone! One of the big changes from the 50’s to the 60’s was that a lot more female artists were involved in the music industry like Cher, and Petula Clark who went onto become super famous. Of course, one of the greatest discoveries of the time was the Beatles, who continue attract thousands of listeners throughout the world with their catchy tracks. And naturally, who could forget the Woodstock festival which promoted 3 days of ‘peace and music’ and created an enormous buzz!

The 60’s was a great time to be around in terms of fashion, there was so much going on. Mini skirts were first made popular in this period, and have gone on to become a staple item in many of our wardrobes! The hippie look was hot at the time so flowers pretty much anywhere were a good thing…psychedelic baby! Funny how we’ve started wearing flowers in our hair again nowadays! Obviously it goes without saying that all outfits had to be accessorised with at least one ‘Peace’ symbol…groovy baby!

As you can see…the 60’s were just awesome pretty much in every way, so there are loads of gift ideas you can nab from there, and I guarantee you they will still be cool now! If you need some help for trippy gifts, and loads more retro gifts from this era at www.pasttimes.com

The 1950’s was a huge decade for music, and primarily, the time that brought us rock n’ roll, however, it wasn’t only about the rock n’ roll. Other inspirational musicians include Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry, and tons more! Don’t sound familiar? Hmm…Maybe time to invest in a ‘greatest hits of the 1950’s’ album because you’re missing out! Fashion in the 50’s oozed glamour and sophistication and A-list celebrities are bringing that look right back. It’s gone from celebrities to high street and the look is easily accessible now. It was all about being elegant and that didn’t just apply to us ladies, but also to men. So, men, you better start sprucing up!
